Ozil transferred to Fenerbahce after falling out of favour with Mikel Arteta in January 2021
Mesut Ozil and Fenerbahce parted ways after the club terminated the midfielder's contract two years early following their mutual agreement.
The former midfielder for Real Madrid and Arsenal is expected to sign a one-year contract with a one-year extension option with Turkish Super Lig rivals Istanbul Basaksehir.
"One of the things that makes life is that it is full of uncertainties," Ozil posted on social media on Wednesday.
"Our plans, desires and wishes may not always go in the direction you want them to. I wanted to achieve success by getting more chances to play in the Fenerbahce jersey, which has always been my childhood dream.
"I would like to thank the Fenerbahce community and fans for the great support they have shown me."

Although his contract has expired, it is believed that Fenerbahce will continue to pay him through 2025, and his signing with his new club will take place tomorrow.
In January 2021, Ozil transferred to Fenerbahce after falling out of favour with Mikel Arteta.
Before his move to Basaksehir was made public, he signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, but his exit after 18 months was revealed on Wednesday.
In 36 games for Fenerbahce, scoring nine goals and providing three assists, Ozil last appeared for the team in March.
